Museums - Curated list for arms & armours artefacts (WIP)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

One of the most important in the world, extremely rich collection, sometimes with the specifications of the objects. Often with notices with interesting and relevant information.

Royal Armouries Leeds

Important English collection and good notices, often with specifications, often proper physical descriptions of items.

Musée de l'Armée

Paris' Army museum and one of the biggest in the world. Only a very small part of the collection online, but well documented and excellent pictures. Poor localisation coverage.

Wallace Collection

Important collection in London, with rare items and excellent descriptions. Lack of pictures.

Kunsthistoriches Museum

Major world collection of Vienna. Extraordinary objects of the Holy Roman Empire princes, evolving entries.

Germanische Nationalmuseum Nürnberg

Important collection in Nuremberg. Know what you are searching for (in German).

Philadelphia Museum of Art

Several quality objects in a comfortable catalogue.

Art Institute Chicago

Several quality objects in a comfortable catalogue.

Bayerisches Nationalmuseum München (& others)

Quality collection. Unfortunately the online catalogue recently had its content reduced in exchange of a higher quality site. My gallery includes arms & armours related artworks from other Munich museums, mainly the Alte Pinakothek.

Armeria Reale Torino

Extraordinary collection of the princes of Savoy, unfortunately so dimmly lit that hardly any good photograph can be taken. Functional but unhandy catalogue.

Churburg Armoury - Castel Coira

Unique collection with unfortunately small online presence; printed catalogues necessary to crosscheck information of the objects displayed.
